When I was 10 years old he would see a movie that would change his life. That movie was "The Straight Story". A film about an elderly man riding on a lawn mower from Iowa, USA to the state of Wisconsin, all to visit his dying brother. The star of the movie was exactly this machine -a John Deere 110 tractor. In many ways this was my first true love, all I knew as a kid was that I wanted one. But they are very rare in Europe and for a young boy with no money, it was just a dream to own such a machine. After 15 years of dreaming and searching, I finally got a hold of this rare mower with a past from Wisconsin, USA, which today still works like new. It got restored and is still used as a garden tractor with different chores like mowing the lawn and hauling potatoes, grass and flowers.
